Maturation: The wine remains in the Douro after the harvest and is taken to V.N.Gaia in the following Spring, after having undergone transfers and corrections. In the centuries-old Offley lodges the wines mature in oak wood casks, under Porto´s traditional system. Throughout the years the wines are carefully transferred, tasted and analysed and the final blend is prepared always keeping Offley Porto Lagrima's unique characteristics. Wines are carefully selected between 3 and 5 years of age, providing for an average age of 4 years. The final blend is filtered and cold-stabilised prior to bottling | Consumption temperature: 6-10º |
Allergens: Sulphites | Enólogo: Luis Sottomayor |
Tone: Rich yellow golden hue | Tasting Notes - Aroma: Intense bouquet dominated by floral notes and by the flavours arising from its ageing in wood, the "noble oxidation" that adds to it notes of nuts, peanut butter and honey |
Tasting Notes - Palate: With an increased richness and complexity, the wine reached a fine balance between acidity and sweetness, complemented by a long and elegant finish | Vintage / Winemaking: Offley Porto Lágrima is made in accordance with Porto's traditional method. The hand-picked grapes undergo stalk-removal and crushing. Fermentation then follows, with skin maceration in order to extract the best components. The addition of grape alcohol sets the balance between the wine's body and bouquet, and its ideal moment is set by the oenology team after strict control of fermentation temperatures and densities, a very important factor in this style of Porto, and one which varies according to vine variety, maturation stage and the final high sweetness required |
