The Gin Monkey 47 has a name and a curious story: In 1945, when World War II ended, Collins Monty, from the British Air Force, was detached to Berlin to help in the recovery of violent bombardments that the city suffered during the war. To symbolize their devotion to the cause, Collins chose the recovery of the zoo as a priority and adopted as a mascot, the monkey named Max. Therefore, the Gin name is Monkey. What Collins did not expect it was to miss his favorite drink, and as he had difficulty obtaining drinking, decided to make their own Gin. Impressed with the wealth of botanical from the black forest, where he was living after Berlin, Collins chose only ingredients of this forest for their Gin and selected exactly 47 different ingredients. That gives the name 47 to the Gin. Monkey 47 is the first premium Gin limited edition bottles, each individually numbered.
