Quinta do Avelar is one of the oldest producers of IG Lisboa wine. Its land stretches across the famous “caeiras”, the half slopes and valleys of clay-calcareous soils, which provide the excellent terroir for our wines. Being over eighty years old, our vineyards have the maturity to creat a great red wine from some of the oldest grape varieties in Lisbon, such as the Aragonez, the Camarate (Castelão Nacional), the Castelão, the Trincadeira, the Tinta Miúda among others. The productions we get are naturally low (about 3 ton/ha) reaching full maturity in late September
