Tone: Pink Tasting Notes - Palate: Mateus Rosé Original is a rosé with a very appealing and bright hue. On the whole, it is a fresh and seductive wine with fine and intense bouquet and all the joviality of young wines. In the mouth, it is a well balanced and tempting wine, brilliantly complemented by a soft and slightly fizzy finish.
Vintage / Winemaking: Vinification follows the traditional method for white wines and fermentation is carried out slowly, with no skins, in stainless steel vats at 16ºC controlled temperature. Fining is followed by cold-stabilisation, after which the wine is filtered and bottled. The whole process is done with extreme care, so as consistently to ensure Mateus unique style, colour and freshness.

The twentieth century witnessed the birth and consolidation of Mateus Rosé, the Sogrape Vinhos flagship that truly conquered the world. The history of Mateus Rosé goes back to 1942, when Fernando Van Zeller Guedes created and launched a highly distinctive concept - a wine with a strong personality and unique flavour, presented in an original and innovative bottle. These aspects, when combined, became strong brand attributes and quickly making Mateus a wine known and appreciated worldwide. A powerful brand was born. Inside the iconic bottle was something different: a new, rosé-coloured , fresh, slightly sparkling and very versatile wine. The company plumped for a short, flask-shaped bottle, inspired by the hip-flasks used by soldiers in the First World War. This was a shape that stood out from the crowd of tall bottles.
